Learn how to set up and schedule your Satechi Smart Outlet (EU) using the free app. Control lights, coffee makers, and more from your phone.
Quick answer
Download the free Satechi app, plug in the Smart Outlet (EU), and connect it over Wi-Fi to schedule lights, coffee makers, and other devices from your smartphone.
Why schedule your smart outlet?
Scheduling your smart outlet lets you automate daily routines without remembering to flip a switch. For example, set your coffee maker to turn on 15 minutes before you wake up, or have a lamp turn off at sunrise to save energy. The Satechi Smart Outlet (EU) works with the free Satechi app, so you don't need a separate hub or subscription.
Things to consider before you start
The Smart Outlet (EU) requires a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If your router broadcasts a combined 2.4/5 GHz network, check the app settings to ensure the outlet connects to the 2.4 GHz band. Also, keep the outlet close to your router during initial setup to avoid connection drops.
Step-by-step setup and scheduling
- Download the Satechi app: Open your phone's app store, search for the free Satechi app, and install it. Create an account or log in if you already have one. Make sure your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network you plan to use for the outlet.
- Plug in the Smart Outlet (EU): Insert the outlet into a wall socket near your router. Wait for the LED indicator to start blinking (usually within 10 seconds). A steady blinking light means it's ready to pair. If the LED doesn't blink, press and hold the button on the side of the outlet for 5 seconds to reset it.
- Connect the outlet to the app: In the Satechi app, tap 'Add Device' and select 'Smart Outlet'. The app will scan for nearby outlets. When it finds yours, confirm the connection. Name the outlet something clear, like 'Desk Lamp' or 'Coffee Maker'. If the scan fails, move the outlet closer to the router and try again. Avoid using a VPN or ad blocker that might interfere with the app.
- Set up a schedule: In the app, tap the outlet you just added. Choose 'Schedule' and then 'Add Schedule'. Select the days, on/off times, and whether you want the outlet to repeat weekly. Save the schedule. Double-check the time zone setting in the app – an incorrect time zone will shift your schedule by hours.
- Test the schedule: Manually turn the outlet off via the app, then wait for the next scheduled on-time to confirm it activates correctly. Also test the off-time by setting a schedule 2 minutes ahead. If the schedule doesn't trigger, verify that the outlet is still connected to Wi-Fi and that your phone hasn't changed networks.
